So Far, So Good

It is the end of week 2 and we are all settling in. We have had some great moments and some learning lessons.

My favorite part of all this is meeting the people in the neighborhood. This business is exactly what I envisioned. Years ago, I knew I wanted to be part of a business that catered to a community. One where when people walked in the door we could say, “Hey Kim, how are the kids doing?” Arden Dispatch is turning out to be exactly that and we love it.

A little post-mortem of the week: a lot of drop offs with every person saying, “I am so glad you are here!”, some gift shop purchases with the tea bag fishing men being our top seller, a UPS package drop off… we don’t have UPS yet, so we drove it over to the UPS store, and an overnight FedEx shipment of horse semen. 😐

The We’re Open banner was put up and we sent out 6000 postcards to the neighborhoods nearby. As soon as we put that sign up yesterday, we had more people than any other day show up!!

Our learning lesson for the week: the proper information on a postcard to use the USPS EDDM. Apparently, you need to put certain postage words where a stamp goes, as well as Local Postal Customer where the addresses go. We didn’t add these things when we got the postcards printed. Ugh! We printed out 6000 of each on labels and proceeded to spend every working hour of Thursday and Friday placing those labels. All hands were on deck for this, even hands that don’t actually work here. 😀 When you get your postcard, know we put a lot of hours and love into them. 🥰

We are all exhausted and still loving coming in every morning. Come introduce yourselves to us!
