fin·ger·print

  1. an impression or mark made on a surface by a person's fingertip, especially as used for identifying individuals from the unique pattern of whorls and lines

Certifix LiveScan digital fingerprinting is one of the many services we offer (our services). For six weeks we have been pulling out the fingerprinting equipment every day and it has sat lonely and unused. A while back, I checked to see if Arden Dispatch was coming up on a fingerprinting search and it was not. I found out we needed to fill out a form in order for our names to be shown online. This is one of many steps in starting a new business I don’t understand.

So I filled out the form and they advised me it could be up to 30 days before our business showed up on the Certifix or DOL sites. I checked weekly ready to reach out to them on day 30. On day 29, I saw we were on the Certifix site and I told my employees that people may be calling soon. I was correct, the phone rang 30 minutes later asking about digital fingerprinting.

That was last Monday and we have helped at least 5 people a day with their fingerprints since then. Woo-hoo! I love having more people come into the store, and the difference in reasons why people need fingerprint service has been vast and interesting. We are all enjoying this service so much.

Yet, I have a beef with the process of getting our name out there. It seems if I am asking to be a LiveScan Private Service Provider, I would definitely want to have my business name on the Certifix AND DOJ’s website. I have a few questions about this:

  1. Why do I need to fill out a separate form requesting this?

  2. Why isn’t that a question on the application form?

  3. Why isn’t it a default and then not wanting to be in the search be the need to fill out a form?

  4. Why isn’t the government more streamlined in so many ways?

Anyway, we look forward to meeting all of you people with fingerprints!!
