Best Smelling Shipping and Gift Store in Sacramento!

We often get the following reaction when people walk in:

Customer walks in, surprised look from our smiling greetings, looks around, makes sure they are in the right place, then hesitantly asks, “Do you ____________________________ (ship UPS, FedEx, do fingerprints)?”

“Yes we do!”

“But it smells so good in here!”

We agree, it does smell good in the store. When asked what makes it smell so good, we have tried to nail down the specific scent, but no one can agree what it is as we shove diffusers, candles, soaps, etc. under their noses. I think it is a blending of all the forementioned products that make the store smell so welcoming.

Did you know there are people in this world called Scent Marketers who are hired to make the perfect scent for businesses? Disneyland has perfected this with the sugary and popcorn smells on Mainstreet. They pump out the deliciousness using a contraption called a Smellitizer that pushes liquid scents via a powerful fan so that we all feel homey as we smell the comfort food.

There’s a whole scientific situation going on in our bodies that have to do with smell. It involves a part called an olfactory bulb and 40,000 neurons in our brain that cause feelings when we smell certain scents. For me, a few stand out: freshly cut grass reminds me of playing soccer with Del Dayo Soccer Association teams on early Saturday mornings as a kid; the smell of cooking burgers near any Burger King at lunch time reminds me of my first job at 15; and White Shoulders perfume- it was the scent a lady at Our Lady of the Assumption wore as she helped me learn my reading for mass when I was in first grade (why do I remember that?).

In Arden Dispatch, I think the smell is welcoming which makes people smile and want to come back and I love that. I want our customers to keep coming back to check in with us and maybe take a little Dispatch home with them by buying candle or diffuser so they can have a comforting feel in their own homes too!
